“Kara is always so sweet and happy in the hallways and just anytime you see her you can’t help but smile because she has always got the biggest smile. You would literally never know if she was having a bad day because she always makes a point to say hello and ask how you are doing. I was drawing a patient on Med/Surg the other day and she was answering a call light and had other things in her had like maybe she had another patient to get to or somewhere else to go. She stopped by the room with the light on and I heard her say “Are you just feeling like you are wanting someone to talk to?” the patient said that yes that’s what they were needing. I had gone in to draw my patient but when I came back out she was sitting in the room just talking to the patient about their pets and family. They have such a busy job and I’m sure she probably had 20 other things to get done but she made time to sit and talk to this patient when that is exactly what they were needing.
Another time the ER was completely overwhelmed and she was down there running blood to the lab and cleaning rooms as patients were discharged and whatever else it is that they needed from her at that point. She did it with a smile. I think that as a manager that is exactly the kind of example the rest of us need to see. She could’ve stayed on Med/Surg and gotten things done that she needed to down there but instead came down and helped where she could and I just think she is so awesome for doing that.” ~ Nominated by Morgan Tolliver
