Candidate will work two shifts a week as an ED RN and one shift a week as an ED Charge.
As an ED RN: candidate will perform nursing care to patients of all ages under the scope of IL RN license as well as the policies/procedures of CCH. Duties include providing education to patients, assess and treat patients in ER, start and maintain IVs; Documentation; Collaborate with all members of the healthcare team and patient.
As an ED Charge: candidate is responsible for providing clinical leadership and operational oversight during assigned shifts. In the absence of administrative leadership, the ED Charge assumes supervisory responsibility for the Emergency Department and staff.
Duties include (but not limited to): Monitors adherence to infection control standards, OSHA requirements and Joint Commission guidelines; completes post-discharge follow-up communications and documentation; provides shift-level supervision and direction to ED staff; conducts leadership rounds to identify and resolve issues impacting patient care or operations; collaborates with leadership on resource utilization and departmental efficiency; cross trains in other areas of the hospital and be flexible with the location of nursing needs required daily; performs primary triage assessments of patients presenting to the ED, utilizing established clinical protocols and EHR documentation, and more.
Skills Required: Candidate must have strong clinical judgement and critical thinking skills; demonstrate leadership and team coordination abilities; effective interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills; ability to function independently in high-stress and rapidly changing environments; ability to coach and educate in the clinical setting in real-time; strong ability to multitask and maintain organization within the department; proficiency in electronic medical records and clinical informatics systems; ability to foresee departmental and staffing needs in the event of emergent situations; ability to stay calm under pressure.
Education required: Current IL RN licensure. Required within 6 months of hire if not already obtained: ACLS & PALS training. Required at time of hire: BLS training.
The role is full time, night shift (7p-7a) with pay beginning at $34.39 while working as an ED RN and beginning at $39.89 while working as an ED Charge on nights and increases with experience. Shift differential added: 6% from 7pm to 11pm, plus an additional $3 per hour for weekend shifts after midnight on Fridays.
