Clay County Hospital Health Fairs Save Lives
    Kelly Conard shares her story.

As a part of Clay County Hospital’s population health initiative, the occupation health program offers health fairs in the local industries. CCH staff performs screenings such as diabetic risk assessments, body fat analysis, grip strength tests, and blood pressure checks. Education on subjects such as smoking cessation, diet, nutrition, and health screenings are shared.

It was at a health fair at Silgan that Kelly Conard discovered that her blood pressure was extremely high and was advised to set up an appointment with her physician immediately.

Kelly shared, “I am not one to take time out of my busy schedule to go to the doctor, but with the CCH staff’s insistence, I listened and did just that.”

Kelly’s doctor told her that she had enlarged thyroid glands, and more tests were needed to get to the root cause of her extremely high blood pressure. “After testing and being referred to a specialist, I found out I had thyroid cancer. My cancer was caught in a very early stage and was able to be removed. I am so thankful for the wonderful Health Fair services provided by our Hospital. Without them and their service, my cancer would have gone undetected.”

Kelly is married to Roy Conard and has three daughters, Emma, Jayden, and Khloe.
