Job description and role duties:

This program is designed for a recent high school graduate who is planning to pursue a career in healthcare. The participant will be employed by Clay County Hospital and will primarily work in the clinic setting for a 6-week period. In addition to their clinical responsibilities, the student will spend one day each week rotating through various departments across the organization to gain a broader, immersive understanding of healthcare operations and career pathways. CARE 360 play a critical role in building a strong healthcare workforce pipeline, increasing student awareness of career opportunities, and creating meaningful pathways into rural healthcare careers.

This is a full-time, temporary, 8-week position with a pay rate of $16.00 per hour.  This position is not benefit eligible due to its temporary nature.

Requirements to apply for the role include:

  • Must be nominated by the AHEC (Illinois Area Healthcare Education Center) program.
  • Must be a recent high school graduate
  • Must be planning to pursue a career in healthcare
  • Ask questions and reflect on learning goals as part of the co‑op program
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Basic computer skills (email, typing, basic data entry)
  • Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
